Polari Facts looks at some 2009 anniversaries.

Milestone gay anniversaries in 2009. Including the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots to Thomas Jefferson’s proposal that “sodomites” be punished with castration. Yikes!

Alan Turing, the who man decoded many of the Nazi ciphers in World War II, including the Enigma code, was repaid by his country with criminal prosecution and enforced “treatment” for his homosexuality. He committed suicide 55 years ago.

An important part of his job was to make sense of her reign. This is the reason there is so much cross-dressing in his work.

Sci-Fi and homosexuality

09 May 2009 / Comments Off / in Polari Facts/by Polari Facts

Polari Facts looks at the significant question of homosexuality in Sci-Fi.

The first mainstream gay couple were obviously C3-P0 and R2-D2, and Buck Rogers clearly gave birth to a generation of spandex fetishists.

In 1977 Star Wars brought the first mainstream homosexual relationship to the Big Screen. To get around the censors, as well as those pesky Christian Fundamentalists who were getting so noisy at the time, that relationship was between the droids C3-P0 and R2-D2.

Polari Facts on the FBI

The bureau had questionable dealings with homosexuality in the 1950s and ’60s. There were certainly a great many probes.

There were rumours that Hoover and associate FBI director Clyde Tolson were lovers. Hoover ordered a crack-down that was nothing less than vicious. The subject rather unhinged him.

All About Gay Animals!

05 Jan 2009 / Comments Off / in Polari Facts/by Polari Facts

Polari Facts explores the gay animal underworld.

“Birds do it. Bees do it. Even educated fleas do it.” Run away creationists! Hide your eyes!

Homosexuality has been observed in all species of Great Apes, which incidentally is a category that includes humans (although not of course if you are a creationist, who are not interested in facts at all).
