You typed ‘what crap is madonna talking now’ into Google?

Each Friday Polari shares its favourite WTF?! search terms from the last 7 days.

WTF?! Friday funniest insane google searches

How do Googlers get to Polari using some of these search terms?

Here are our 7 favourite, and no so favourite, WTF?! search terms from this week…

#1

you stole my scarf your vagina makes me barf

At first I thought, WTF?, but then I remembered that drag legend Jackie Beat sang this very line, and was quoted in these virtual pages (read here). Still, it stands out even more out of context…

#2

kate bush one eye

Has something happened to the reclusive babooshka that we dont’ know about?

#3

did the house keeper kill mr.alan turing

Really? That’s a lame conspiracy theory. It was the security services. Obviously.

#4

facial expression unique to gay men

Is it the one that goes with the clutching of imaginary pearls?

#5

death penalty for fags polari

Last week it was simply ‘death penalty for fags’, but now ‘polari’ has been added, which is just weird, unless someone was looking for the translation of said terms into the glorious Polari lexicon. Oooh, isn’t he bold!

#6

all gay conviction wiped including public toilets

It may be a weird search term, but I am sure the interview with the lovely Richard Lane from Stonewall (read here) will clear this confusion up.

#7

what crap is madonna talking now

That could cover a multitude of sins. It would probably help if there was a definition of irony that would aid Madge through the difficult times. Maybe then we’d know what she was talking about. Seriously, that’s so reductive.

About Polari Magazine

Polari Magazine is an LGBT arts and culture magazine that explores the subculture by looking at what is important to the people who are in it. It’s about the lives we lead, not the lifestyles we’re supposed to lead.

Its content is informed & insightful, and features a diverse range of writers from every section of the community. Its intent is to help LGBT readers learn about their own heritage and to sustain a link between the present and the past.

Polari is designed to nurture the idea of community, whether that be social and political, or artistic and creative. It is your magazine, whether you want to read it, or whether you want to get involved in it, if you're gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, or queer.

Polari Magazine is all these: it's a gay online magazine; it's a gay and lesbian online magazine; it's an LGBT arts and culture magazine. Ultimately, it is a queer magazine.
