Alan Turing Petition

Petition to revoke Alan Turing’s continuing criminal status

Alan Turing was a war hero, and his work helped to win World War II. Yet he is still legally a criminal.

The petition states: “Alan Turing was driven to a terrible despair and early death by the nation he’d done so much to save. This remains a shame on the UK government and UK history.”

The kid who stood up to Bachmann

Eight-year old stands up to bully Michele Bachmann

Elijah tells Bachmann that his mother is gay and doesn’t need fixing. Way to go!

It would be wrong to call Michele Bachmann evil. She’s ignorant. Willfully and loyally so. It’s what she does/says that is evil.

On the all-new rebuilt Polari Magazine website

To mark its third birthday, Polari is relaunched in the most dynamic and exciting version we’ve built to date.

Interestingly, the idea for Polari was conceived in January 2006, but it was not until December 2008 that the website was launched. That’s a 22 month gestation period, which is the same as it is for a baby elephant.

Nigerian Government Goes Anti-Gay Again

29 Nov 2011 / Comments Off / in Bulletin Board/by Editor

Nigerian Government bans gay marriage

In a country where homosexuality is illegal this is no doubt more posturing.

Among rights activists, it has become a grim joke that homophobia is a rare issue that unites the country’s bickering Muslim north and Christian south.

Does X Factor have any worth?

Asked one question about the impact of X-Factor on the music industry, the marvellous Darren Hayes responds in clear detail. Bravo!

Would I have gone on X Factor if I were starting out today? Absolutely. But I think I would have burnt up in the initial audition process.

Bad Marketing – On Self Promotion

All the Grindr vain, self-obsessed and obnoxious voices on Grindr.

The website doucebagsofgrindr.com is showing up the bad language and general offensiveness at play on the app Grindr.

There is a real twisted joy to seeing prime examples of this bad behaviour on the website www.douchebagsofgrindr.com. For the most part it is a thoroughly entertaining insight into the world of the vain and self-obsessed.

Apple finally pulls “gay cure” app after six weeks

25 Mar 2011 / Comments Off / in Editorial/by Editor

Apple hosts “gay cure” app for an unacceptable 6 weeks.

The fascism of the Christian Right was voiced through Apple’s App Store, and the company had an abysmally slow response when called to remove it.

The ex-gay proselytizers view it a bad consumer choice, and instead promote a good consumer choice, their own Cosmic Cash Machine, the Lord.

About Polari Magazine

Polari Magazine is an LGBT arts and culture magazine that explores the subculture by looking at what is important to the people who are in it. It’s about the lives we lead, not the lifestyles we’re supposed to lead.

Its content is informed & insightful, and features a diverse range of writers from every section of the community. Its intent is to help LGBT readers learn about their own heritage and to sustain a link between the present and the past.

Polari is designed to nurture the idea of community, whether that be social and political, or artistic and creative. It is your magazine, whether you want to read it, or whether you want to get involved in it, if you're gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, or queer.

Polari Magazine is all these: it's a gay online magazine; it's a gay and lesbian online magazine; it's an LGBT arts and culture magazine. Ultimately, it is a queer magazine.
