Lincoln

31 Jan 2013 / Comments Off / in Film & Television/by Christopher Bryant

[rating=3]
Cert:12A • US: 150 min • Twentieth Century Fox • January 25, 2013

Glittering with moments of brilliance, led by an exceptional team of actors, Lincoln is far less than the sum of its parts.

“The fault with Lincoln is that its content is too great for the structure that contains it, and there are far too many characters to squeeze into its 150 minutes.”

No Fairy Tale • Lisa Loeb

31 Jan 2013 / Comments Off / in Music/by Little Bastard

[rating=3]
Released January 29, 2013
No Fairy Tale, by Lisa Loeb. A glossy, uptempo album of catchy pop songs.

” I’ve always favoured Lisa’s more melancholy moments to her rom-com bating slick uptempos and, as I got older, seem to have little tolerance for over polished American output.”

Will Young isn’t exactly what you’d call normal … surely a compliment in this day and age … and this is no normal autobiography

“Will has a way of recounting a story that not only brings out the insane humour of each situation, by also giving us an insight into his constant internal dialogue, but also getting his teeth into you and not letting you go.”

Sundance 2013: Between Categories

29 Jan 2013 / Comments Off / in Features/by Michael Langan

Queer Spaces.

Michael Langan talks to Travis Mathews: a revealing exchange about how Mathews’ work operates in the space between categories.

“I like the in-between space because it leaves open the possibility of the unexpected while having some sort of map to refer to if it goes off the rails. I was voted “most unpredictable” in high school, so there you have it. .”

Raymond Luczak’s How To Kill Poetry is a three-headed gonzo beast that’s part history, part character and part futuristic.

A Little More Love • Moya

24 Jan 2013 / Comments Off / in Music/by Nick Smith

[rating=5]
Released March 25, 2013
A striking ballad from Moya that promises great things from the singer in 2013.

“Opening with a subtle vocal and sombre piano, this stunning track threatens to build into a huge dance banger, but shrewdly kicks into a crossover with shuffling drums underpinned by a thudding bassline.”

About Polari Magazine

Polari Magazine is an LGBT arts and culture magazine that explores the subculture by looking at what is important to the people who are in it. It’s about the lives we lead, not the lifestyles we’re supposed to lead.

Its content is informed & insightful, and features a diverse range of writers from every section of the community. Its intent is to help LGBT readers learn about their own heritage and to sustain a link between the present and the past.

Polari is designed to nurture the idea of community, whether that be social and political, or artistic and creative. It is your magazine, whether you want to read it, or whether you want to get involved in it, if you're gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, or queer.

Polari Magazine is all these: it's a gay online magazine; it's a gay and lesbian online magazine; it's an LGBT arts and culture magazine. Ultimately, it is a queer magazine.
