The Week Long Celebration Raises Concerns.

Gay Days 2012 is drawing protest from anti-gay groups, of course, but it is also drawing protest from LGBT ones.

A law that will be voted on this week in the Ukraine will make it illegal to be homosexual in public.

20 May 2012 / Comments Off / in Editorial/by Editor

Assumptions and Prejudice Have Changed Little.

A CBS report by Mike Wallace, ‘The Homosexuals’, from 1967 uses arguments that are disturbingly similar to those used today. How much have things changed really?

“It is apparent that what was being said and assumed then about homosexuality publicly is not so different from what is so often being said and assumed now.”

This Week In The Same Sex Marriage Debate

12 May 2012 / Comments Off / in Editorial/by Editor

Only Obama Got The Point.

This week in the same sex marriage debate, Obama came out in support, the Conservative government retreated, and North Carolina voted to ban civil unions and same sex marriage.

“The Conservatives played the blame game, and so the same sex marriage rights that had been on the table before last week’s elections were excluded. Politics is being played with rights, and that is deplorable.”

About Polari Magazine

Polari Magazine is an LGBT arts and culture magazine that explores the subculture by looking at what is important to the people who are in it. It’s about the lives we lead, not the lifestyles we’re supposed to lead.

Its content is informed & insightful, and features a diverse range of writers from every section of the community. Its intent is to help LGBT readers learn about their own heritage and to sustain a link between the present and the past.

Polari is designed to nurture the idea of community, whether that be social and political, or artistic and creative. It is your magazine, whether you want to read it, or whether you want to get involved in it, if you're gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, or queer.

Polari Magazine is all these: it's a gay online magazine; it's a gay and lesbian online magazine; it's an LGBT arts and culture magazine. Ultimately, it is a queer magazine.
