The Independent Pink List LGBT Heroes

A profile of the activist David Watters.

David is currently fighting for marriage equality in the European Courts of Human Rights as a part of the Equal Love Campaign. He also founded the Give ‘Em Hope campaign and is the author of Never Blend In. He has also spoken alongside Peter Tatchell and Stuart Milk at the No to Hate Vigil in Trafalgar Square and is a supporter of the HIV/AIDS charity the Terrence Higgins Trust.

A vote for David on the Independent on Sunday’s Pink List is a vote for all of those that campaign tireless for everyone’s human rights, who do so without the aid of fame or the media coverage that comes with it.

David Watters introduces Matthew and Scott, who have challenged the ban on gay marriage.

Both Matthew and Scott feel that, as gay men, they are more in tune with the broader inequality issues of society and that their participation in the Equal Love campaign was inevitable.

Queer Resistance gives voice to LGBTQ community.

About resisting needless government cuts, pushing for the alternatives and fighting for your community.

On 26th March, the group will join the ‘March for the Alternative’ in central London alongside various other LGBTQ groups to voice its concerns about the funding cuts and to highlight the alternatives to the cuts, which are fair, safe and sustainable including: a Robin Hood tax on the banks; closing tax loopholes; and policies for jobs and green growth.

Equal Love case filed to European Court

The historic filing of a legal application to the European Court of Human Rights.

The UK Equal Love Campaign, coordinated by human rights activist Peter Tatchell, filed a legal application to the European Court of Human Rights.

We are yet to see the full impact of this initiative. This is just the start of what promises to be a ground breaking move towards redefining the nature and purpose of marriage.
