The Second Annual Report of Throbbing Gristle • Throbbing Gristle

29 Nov 2012 / Comments Off / in Classics: Music/by Walter Beck

[rating=4]
Released November 1977

The first official release from Throbbing Gristle ushered in the Industrial Era of music. Classic Music Review.

“Far removed from the over-distorted guitars and synthesizers of Nine Inch Nails and Ministry, this is industrial music at its most primitive and primal, a collection of studio and live snippets not designed for radio play or popularity, but rather designed to strip music down to its bare essentials, to make it dangerous again.”

The underground thrash album ‘Live! Without a Penis’ is original, heavy and funny as hell. Classic Music Review.

After seven years, Eyehategod is back with the single New Orleans Is The New Vietnam, from the new, as yet untitled, album.

“Williams’ voice is like no other; it’s not merely screaming or growling, his voice becomes an instrument in and of itself, his words blurring to become musical notes rather than something to sing along to. It’s the vocalization of a tortured soul in its purest form.”

Walter Beck reviews the Charles Manson single Horsefly, recorded in secret in his prison cell. Yes, that Chales Manson …

Walter Beck takes a look at Jed Smock’s right-wing Christian manifesto, which is still doing the rounds and trying to spoil impressionable minds.
