Released March, 1993

This is out and proud gay punk, completely up front and not hiding behind metaphors.

“It’s the defiance and frankness of the lyrics that sets this album apart from the catalogue of ‘gay music’. Up until this point, most songs catering to a gay audience were soaked in metaphor and coded lyrics.”

World Pride 2012 – A very British crisis?

03 Jul 2012 / Comments Off / in Opinion/by Tim Bennett-Goodman

Austerity Britain Comes to World Pride.

Keep calm and carry on, World Pride 2012 fell apart and Boris Johnson failed London one more time.

“Is it really worth jeopardising London’s international standing as a fun city to live, work and do business in for the sake of a reported measly £65,000, which probably amounts to little more than a bankers’ bonus-celebration dinner?”

43 Years Since the Revolution Started.

Today is anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The editor asks how that legacy is faring in 2012.

“To cries of ‘gay power’, and ‘Christopher Street belongs to the queens’, the crowds fought back. As the activist and academic Dennis Altman later wrote, it was the ‘Boston Tea Party of the gay movement’.”

About Polari Magazine

Polari Magazine is an LGBT arts and culture magazine that explores the subculture by looking at what is important to the people who are in it. It’s about the lives we lead, not the lifestyles we’re supposed to lead.

Its content is informed & insightful, and features a diverse range of writers from every section of the community. Its intent is to help LGBT readers learn about their own heritage and to sustain a link between the present and the past.

Polari is designed to nurture the idea of community, whether that be social and political, or artistic and creative. It is your magazine, whether you want to read it, or whether you want to get involved in it, if you're gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, or queer.

Polari Magazine is all these: it's a gay online magazine; it's a gay and lesbian online magazine; it's an LGBT arts and culture magazine. Ultimately, it is a queer magazine.
