A Reader’s Anti-Gay Tirade
The anti-gay tirade below, posted in response to the article ‘Stop Complaining and Start Thanking Straight People!’ makes for interesting reading at a time when there is a backlash against equal marriage. It reads like a prepared statement that is ready to be posted whenever the author feels that heterosexuality is under threat. And it sums up heterosexual panic.
The argument, such as it is, turns on pseudo-scientific posturing and ahistorical generalisations. “Homosexual corruption”, whatever that may be, was not responsible for the end of the Greek and Roman empires. That is propaganda, not history.
The author is also obsessed with sex, listing activities that I had to look up. My knowledge has been enriched now that I know what orchiectomy, apotemnophilia and acrotomophilia mean. I’m sure I don’t know anyone who’d be interested in doing them. Most of the acts can be performed by straight as well as same sex partners, it turns out.
The writer is in the end guilty of all the faults that he accuses “militant homosexuals” of committing. This is the voice of the reactionary mind lashing out, wallowing in a paranoid fantasy about what the fight for equal rights is about and providing evidence that there are really twisted people out there.
Here it is:
“How dreadful are the curses which the gay condition has on those who are enslaved to it! Besides the militant frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful Darwinian belief that gays will inherit the earth. The effects are increasingly apparent in many countries. The rise in sexual violence, promiscuity, sexually transmitted diseases, mental instability, suicidal tendencies, drug taking, a terrible threat to the economy, children, marriage and the family exist wherever the followers of the prophets of the Frankfurt School and their evangelists like Alfred Kinsey and Hugh Hefner rule or live.
Apart from Islam, no stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, homosexuality is a militant and proselytising ideology whipped up by the gay liberation fundamentalist movement. This is the product of a thinly veiled rage and hatred of truth, purity, tolerance, equality, righteousness, justice, freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, thought and life itself. No technology, no reasoned debates, no appeal to common sense, or health and safety can stop this cancer eating away at the heart of Western nations. Indeed it is not so much global warming as global queering.
Desperate for identity, and with evangelical hysteria they pump out Stonewellian, LGBTQQIXYZ propaganda. They furiously ferret around the web frantically searching out evidence to prove the existence of a gay gene, or that in fact we are all potentially queer and that it is only a repressed and internalised homophobia that stops us all from enjoying the benefits of fornication, sodomy, paedophilia, pederasty, sadomasochism, exhibitionism, anal-oral sex, rimming, frotteurism, felching, fisting, necrophilia, coprophilia, fetishism, incest, bestiality, zoophilia, hypoxphilia, transvetic fetishism, orchiectomy , apotemnophilia, acrotomophilia, cannibalism and last – but not least – giving the gift of AIDs, HIV and host of other sexually transmitted diseases.
Their narcissism and hypersensitivity is without limits. They scream “homophobia, homophobia, boo, boo” when the slightest criticism, or more likely, a lack of recognition or applause is made towards their strutting cavorting, sweating and grotesque gay pride parades. Whilst the pink dollar has come to dominate government, the film industry, the mass media and every area of life – except the domain of producing the next generation, they still claim that they are an oppressed, victim group on the same level as Jews in the holocaust and blacks during the period of slavery.
One would think that they had already achieved their pink kingdom here on earth, but no! What is that trance induced mantra they repeat? “There is so much more work to do; there is much more to do ” Immersed in their pseudo- scientific, quasi- religious evolutionism they lurch misty eyed and ketamine fuelled towards Never Neverland: an early grave or Sharia- whichever comes first.
Just as ancient Greece and Rome collapsed through homosexual corruption so did the High Renaissance.”

I think that this sad little person not only needs help but s/he neeeds to rejig their sense of priorities.
We are living on a planet which is being stripped bare of resources for short term gain, people’s lives are being stripped of pleasure in the headlong rush to cater for their basic needs so that the 1% can live in the lap of luxury and there are still total wankers out there who think that obsessing about peoples’ private lives are going to distract us from the fact that we are all being shafted.
Get a grip for fuck sake!!
Hate is not a positive for anyone. Lady, just answer one question, please. WHEN DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME HETROSEXUAL? I believe all people deserve equal rights under the law. Since you have lots of time on your hands, there are senior citizens who would welcome your help. Do something positive today!
As is usually the case with lunatics this man is terrible writer. Consequently, few will even read this, much less take it seriously.
His history is faulty, too. The high Renaissance metamorphosed into the Baroque around 1610 which became the high Baroque about 60 years later. The high Renaissance did not collapse, it changed, something that all conservatives fear.
The article itself was hilarious. I couldn’t even take it seriously, it was so dumb. I think the most upsetting thing on this page is the picture of the little kids holding the signs. Go right ahead, fuck with those innocent minds by teaching them hate right from the word go. That’s good parenting.
Yes, David Skinner is not only extraordinarily well-informed, he’s also keen to share his views. He’s a contributor to the site of arch-bigot Bill Muehlenberg, whose views can be found on a site called, of all things Culture Watch, if your stomach’s strong enough: http://www.billmuehlenberg.com/2011/07/08/just-throw-them-all-in-jail/ .
And if you’d like to contact Mr Skinner directly I’m sure he’d be delighted to discuss the bizarre sexual practices he stigmatises with such alacrity and, how shall I put this, in-depth knowledge (unlike his knowledge of history which, as Tomtallis has pointed out above, is sadly inadequate). You can find him, apparently, at d.skinner@talktalk.net. I’m sure he’d love to hear from you.
to be honest I first thought most of the post was using sarcasm…
THEN I realize that that was an actual comment from the linked blog post.
then I had to keep laughing.
people will believe anything as long as it aligns with their hate beliefs even if it has holes in every way shape and form in history, logic, and psychology.
Well I only managed to read a quarter of it before I got bored of the author’s turgid writing style.
“Grotesque Gay Pride Parades”. I would think that hate filled, banner waving religious zealots was much more grotesque. Get a grip you brainless lump.
I’ve noticed the more ignorant they are, the louder they protest and with bigger words…. God what a MORON!!! I have 9 brothers who would kick his a$$ just for being that stupid.
The warped individual who wrote this is in serious need of psychiatric help. Period.
The homosexual this person really fears is the one that lives inside his own head. His homophobia is just a combination of longing, jealousy, and fear that his own family and friends won’t love him if they only knew the Awful Truth about him. It’s protective camouflage, a sheep in wolf’s clothing, so to speak.
Several studies have found that the more militant the homophobe, the stronger his physical arousal when shown gay images. Most of those who attack us actually want to join us.
Really, this person is serious???
I too started out thinking it was sarcasm, and can’t believe anyone seriously thinks in such ridiculous ways…
Kinda reminds me of an article I just read quoting USA Christian Ministries about crazy shit like this…
Unfortunately they are supporting Ron Paul…sorry bout yer luck there, cuzzy. I still like ya.
I wanted to ignore this but I need to speak out and tell you that you’re wrong. Do I really need to refute all these lies? There is no agenda to convert the world. Gay people just want to live their lives and love each other, and if we had legal status for our own families this would help. If you’re straight we won’t convert you . . . but it sounds like you are secretly gay and scared to death.
This is possibly one of the worst examples of hysterical drivel I have ever read. And as a queer woman in her 50′s I have been around for a long time.
It’s not coherent on even most the basic level and suggests the person who wrote this has a form of mental disorder. I would hazard a guess at some kind of paranoia.
Only the most deluded person could come up with such a miss match of odd points, cultural and historical references and claim them as facts. In some cases the links are bizarre for example I still trying to figure out the link between the Frankfurt School, Alfred Kinsey, Hugh Hefner and Islam.
Apparently if I read this correctly Gays are responsible for every possible evil visited upon the earth and including and this is a new one for me cannibalism.
I think however the writer exposed more than the intended and I quote ‘we are all potentially queer and that it is only a repressed and internalised homophobia that stops us all from enjoying the benefits’ I would suggest strongly that you deal with your repressed and internalised homophobia’
There is even more from the same writer in the comments here, if you can face reading it!
http://www.polarimagazine.com/editorial/stop-complaining-start-thanking-straight-people
No at this point I have read enough. It suggests seriously this person has a form of mental disorder possibly paranoia. It’s focused on homosexuality and it’s delusional. It’s all here in black and white. Its a fixation on sex more than anything else and you can almost taste the internal fear.
Wise move.
The end of the High Renaissance occurred with the sack of Rome in 1527 and the covulsion of Europe into two warring relgious groups, Roman Catholic and Protesants. After this, there was a period of instability reflected in the art form Mannerism. The Baroque came around 1600 and was not an extension of the HIgh Renaissance but a huge propaganda campaign, using all the tricks, learnt from the HIgh Renaissance , plus new discoveries concerned with light and motion to make spectacular illusions that would sway the masses and work on their emotions direnctly rather than through the intellect on the one hand or through faith on the other. The Baroque was also called counter – reformation and was an attempt to win back the flock after countries had split with Rome or in one case, with Holland, been created to form a brand new protestant country.
My, my we learn something new everyday

You made claims in your initial comment that homosexuality brought an end to the High Renaissance. I would have thought that you may want to put forward some ‘proof’ for that. Or is it simply that you want to get into a fight and use the comments made about you as manufactured proof for your claims about the mythical homosexual agenda? You clearly assume that you are superior the people you address, as evidenced by your closing line.
Editor, good morning, you said previously “What is more, the study of history is not about facts but the agreed-upon facts. It is not a science.” Indeed we could say that this was true not only of the theory of evolution but the gay genetic theory . Richard Dawkins “scientific” explanation of the gay gene is surely a consequence of eating too many mushrooms. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHDCAllQgS0
As for your demanding that I offer scientific proof, you have just said in the above comment that history is not a science and yet you suddenly change tack. When it comes to an argument that favours your opinion you claim that life is so complex so you cannot possibly be expected to come up with cast – iron proof, and yet when I put forward a proposition , you demand of me.
Nevertheless, returning to the High Renaissance and the Renaissance in general. This was not a populace movement but one driven by aristocrats, by an elite, lost in their humanist philosophy. The art and architecture of this period was monopolised by poweful patrons in the form the Medici banking family and other ruling families who had taken over the Papacy. This was an incestuous and man – gloryfying. – homosexual- and narcisstic period in the history of art. No wonder it could not be maintained . Rome was deservedly sacked in 1527.
By contrast the Reformation paved the way for democracy based upon Judeo Christian principles – not on that of the elitist classical world. The Baroque period was a counter reformation, using all the tricks of illusion, light , dark, colour and theatre to win the flock back.
We also live a period of elitism, where the people have been disenfranchised and enslaved by wealthy queers and their useful idiot followers. But over, above and behind these are the real political masters, the Marxists, people like Angela Mason and Daniel Cohn Bendit. Bend it indeed!
I have demanded nothing of you, neither have I changed tack. I wrote: “I would have thought that you may want to put forward some ‘proof’ for that.” You should read the source material more carefully before reaching conclusions. It is an observation, and the use of quotation marks around the word proof is used in the same way you have used it around the word ‘scientific’. I expect no proof, or even “iron proof”, for your opinions. But I logically assume that you think you have such proof.
If you would like to respond, respond to what I have said, and not your twisting of what I have said.
Tom Tallis challenged my familiarity with the history of Art . I have answered but but there has been no response . However I am more interested in his presumption that Conservatives do not like change. He said,”.” The high Renaissance did not collapse, it changed, something that all conservatives fear.”
Well I could say that this is the pot calling the kettle black. The gaystap will only allow change to go in one direction: from being straight to being bent- never the other way. Once one is entrapped by homosexuality, there is no escape route allowed. One could even say this this is fixed and rigid mind- set which no amount of reason or pursuasion can change.
Again, the criticism that you apply to others should be levelled only at yourself. This fantasy that you call the ‘gaystapo’ exists nowhere but in the conservative mind. As does the idea of a “gay cure”, to which I assume you are referring.
The idea of a gay cure would presuppose some kind of illness. I believe the progenitor of this was Kertbenny, an Austrian- Hungarian who in the mid nineteenth century coined the word homosexual. Unfortunately this dehumanises a person; it takes away the fundamental dignity of being able to take responsibility for how they think and act. No homosexuality is not an illness but it certainly leads to illness, both mental and physical. It alters the brain and is extremely difficult to change. But change is possible. Nothing is impossible with God.
As for gaystapo maybe you ought to read and listen to this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ui1x88kScAs&feature=related
I am afraid I don’t see your point. Starkey’s opinion is just that: opinion.
As for your conclusion that homosexuality leads to mental and physical illness, on what do you base this? Facts or opinion?
What strikes me about Skinner and people like Skinner is the sheer depth of their obsession. They seem to spend so much of their waking hours thinking – not to speak of writing, theorising and pontificating – about homosexuality, certainly far more than I do, for example, as I simply get on with my life as a gay man, writer, teacher, home-owner, tax payer, etc., in a long-standing monogamous relationship with another man (which is simply a statement of fact, and not intended to demean or discredit those who aren’t); a life that involves considerably wider interests than a morbid fascination with the private lives of people I don’t know, and wouldn’t wish to know.
What Skinner thinks is really of no concern to anyone but himself and to those who think like him. He isn’t after all interested in dialogue, which implies an openness and a capacity to listen to the other, and it’s probably true – as he would no doubt claim – that I have no wish to enter into dialogue with him either. What earthly good would it do? He knows nothing about it, surely; he’s what my grandfather would have called, with veiled contempt, book-learnt. It’s rather as if I suddenly became absorbed in the pathology of train-spotting and decided to spend the rest of my life defending my notion of culture from its pernicious influence. I’d haunt train-spotters’ websites and make long weirdly well-informed but ultimately insignificant comments, with no experiential basis. I’d search out all the arcane terms of an activity in which I have no interest, seeking to cast scorn on, and limit the freedom of, those who like hanging around stations with small black notebooks. I’d waste my time, in exactly the same way that Skinner and his ilk waste theirs.
I’m not suggesting that sexual orientation is on a par with a hobby. I’m talking about the obsession of the outsider, his little face pressed angrily to the window as the train passes, that strikes me as, well, misplaced.
Dear Editor I do apologise for giving you the wrong but equally fascinating link to the writings of one of your own, Johann Hari. Gay man par excellence. It was he who said:
“And this Gaystapo has an icon to revere, an alternative Fuhrer to worship: the lost gay fascist leader Ernst Rohm. Along with Adolf Hitler, Rohm was the founding father of Nazism..
”
I didn’t say that; it was Johann- straight from the horse’s mouth.

But who is interested in evidence?
As for evidence, of high incidence of Sexually Transmitted diseases, bi- polar depression and suicide, I could put all the facts and figures from the Health Protection Agency , the American Centre for disease control, the Terrance Higgins Trust and Parliamentary reports before you but it you would simply ignore them and whistle a little tune. Well carry on whilstling – whilst you may. Tragically no amount of argument or evidence can change the mind of one who is so bigoted and entrenched in their own conservative delusions.
How do you do Charles Lambert?
If your life involves considerably wider interests than a morbid fascination with the private lives of other gay people whom you don’t know, and you wouldn’t wish to know., why are you on this site?
And unless someone hasn’t told you, this site is not about train spotting at all. It is indeed about those who are obsessed in themselves and their narcissistic interests
OK Let us enter into dialogue. I shall ask a question of you and then maybe you can ask one of me..
Tell me please, What is so good about the homosexual lifestyle? Sell it to me. Telll me what I am missing. Tell me what it is that I would gain from homosexuality that I could not gain from anywhere else?
I am drawn to your ability to accuse others of your own faults. You can apply your own pejorative language to yourself. Really, I respond because I look forward to the next installment. That and the fact that you think you are the arbiter of this exchange, that I and my readers are answerable to you. It’s just too funny.
You are not a careful enough reader to enter into a dialogue with. You have an agenda and your reading conforms to that. And you have no understanding of the effects of social mores on minority groups. The people who suffer because of homosexuality do so because of the socially manufactured negative representations, not homosexuality itself.
Just to clarify, Hari is a journalist with an opinion. He is not a legislator. You are all opinion and no authority at all.
David what I have learnt is that you are deeply obsessed paranoid and delusional. You have created a historical construct that takes no consequence to the actual study of the subjects you discuss. Your argument has no bearing on any of the vast range of articles and journals and serious attention by actual historians. This is part of your delusion that you believe what you are writing about. You have created an completely fictional historical background that does not and did not exist outside the ravings of your own mind.
@ Charles. I agree with you 100% the writer David is not interested in any true dialogue because to do so would open him to having to actually listen to an alternate point of view. I note he is very careful to not answering any the actual points from the Editor and instead continues spouting more drivel. It’s as if he believes that if he can string enough clever sounding words together it will make sense. His argument is almost at the point of desperation, what more can he throws into the mix. Of course we stupid queer folk cannot possibly compete with his towering intellect.
Homosexuality isn’t a lifestyle, Skinner, and can’t be sold as a product. It might be a good idea if you absorbed that idea and moved on.
Spotted any good trains lately?
