Exploring art & culture from a uniquely queer perspective

You typed WHAT into Google … ?!

31 Aug 2012 / 1 Comment / in Polari HQ/by Editor

Each Friday Polari shares its favourite WTF?! search terms from the last 7 days.

We have no idea how anyone gets to Polari using some of these search terms!

Here are our favourite 7 WTF?! search terms from this week…

#1

builder i want sex with gay men

This is where punctuation is so important. Comma, colon, question mark? Is the builder being addressed or is he the subject?

#2

why is gay rights shoved on my face

It’s not funny, it’s sad, that someone would search for this, not realising that no matter how high the visibility of gay rights it pales next to the visibility of heterosexuality.

#3

free pictures of foetus in the womb

There are sites that charge for these pictures?

#4

most womens talent these days seems to be they have a vagina

It’s great to know that misogynist nonsense brings readers to a site that would probably make them go into full-on heterosexual panic … and then go knock one off in the excitement of it all. Then maybe type in search term 1 …

#5

kissing cadavers

Really? Maybe it’s the name of a punk band we’ve never heard of.

#6

the stranger’s child brideshead revisited rip off

That’s just too funny, and not too wide of the mark …

#7

how come madonna won’t grow old

Perhaps she is not of this earth? Who can say?

Regarding number 6, I have read both books, and apart from the fact that both are set in posh society in the 1930s, I would say the similarity ends there.

Perhaps number 4 is a reference to Naomi Wolf?

I think number 2 is just a case of wishful thinking. You know what they say about homophobes being severely closeted cases – and it’s backed up by actual research now.

About Polari Magazine

Polari Magazine is an LGBT arts and culture magazine that explores the subculture by looking at what is important to the people who are in it. It’s about the lives we lead, not the lifestyles we’re supposed to lead.

Its content is informed & insightful, and features a diverse range of writers from every section of the community. Its intent is to help LGBT readers learn about their own heritage and to sustain a link between the present and the past.

Polari is designed to nurture the idea of community, whether that be social and political, or artistic and creative. It is your magazine, whether you want to read it, or whether you want to get involved in it, if you're gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, or queer.

Polari Magazine is all these: it's a gay online magazine; it's a gay and lesbian online magazine; it's an LGBT arts and culture magazine. Ultimately, it is a queer magazine.
