You typed WHAT?! into Google?

26 Oct 2012 / Comments Off / in WTF? Friday/by Editor

Each Friday Polari shares its favourite WTF?! search terms from the last 7 days.

WTF?! Friday You Typed what into google?

How do Googlers get to Polari using some of these search terms?

Here are our 7 favourite, and no so favourite, WTF?! search terms from this week…

#1

area around my mouth poofs out

Mine too. Oh hang on, the poor dears can’t spell ‘puffs’ … Still, when you type it into Google the first search result is the Oral Histories article ‘Fucking Poofs’, which is all about a homophobic incident. My lips poofed out at that!

#2

flash gordon costumes adults

Flash Gordon is a regular in the search terms, and oddly (or not) there’s always a kinky addition. It’s never Flash. It’s always Flash Gordon XXX XXX, the randy Googlers.

#3

wolf love poems

Is this a bestiality thing? Or is it not bestiality when it’s love? Love transcends all … right? Or not.

#4

widow get fuck after funeral

Yeah, man, now she’s free, she’s going to get it on, unless that grammatical error means something else. But really, how does that lead someone to Polari and not an amateur straight porn fiction site? (It’s fun and at times disturbing to type it into Google …)

#5

linda harvey mission america dinosaurs

The WTF?! is in the subject rather than the search term. Linda Harvey is your garden variety Christian Right fascist, who loves to claim that Christian values are persecuted when the persecuted expect basic human rights. And she believes in Creationism, which is a bonkers fiction that says the world is 4000-odd years old and there was once a time when dinosaurs and humans frolicked in the daisies. If you want to find out why Linda Harvey thinks gay people do not exist, click here to read the Polari article on her (il)logic..

#6

even gays hate madonna, madonna- pissing off the nation and the world

I know this is going to get old, but seriously, the poor megastar gets it in the neck every week. Googlers love to hate Madonna. Perhaps she has a talent to infuriate … and if she does it certainly outstrips her talent for acting, that’s for sure.

#7

مهبل انسان (Arabic: The Human V*gina)

V*gina is a popular search, and appears as regularly on the lists as Madonna. It’s regularly in Arabic, too. We’re not sure what the relevance of either fact is, of course …

About Polari Magazine

Polari Magazine is an LGBT arts and culture magazine that explores the subculture by looking at what is important to the people who are in it. It’s about the lives we lead, not the lifestyles we’re supposed to lead.

Its content is informed & insightful, and features a diverse range of writers from every section of the community. Its intent is to help LGBT readers learn about their own heritage and to sustain a link between the present and the past.

Polari is designed to nurture the idea of community, whether that be social and political, or artistic and creative. It is your magazine, whether you want to read it, or whether you want to get involved in it, if you're gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, or queer.

Polari Magazine is all these: it's a gay online magazine; it's a gay and lesbian online magazine; it's an LGBT arts and culture magazine. Ultimately, it is a queer magazine.
